Shaw Industries, the largest manufacture of floor covering in America,
has announced that Starting January 1, 2008, that all residential carpet
with a warranty will have new parameters for which a consumer will have
to adhere. First and foremost, to maintain warranty coverage,
professional companies must be IICRC Certified Firms by this date in
order to be compliant.
Now we have Word that not only are some provisions moved effective
January 1, 2007, but Mowhawk and Beailieu are joining Shaw with
comparable warranty requirements. Will you be caught short, explaining
to your customers that you cannot clean in compliance with their
warranty? |

Learn to remove scratches and acid etches. Honing and polishing
require some specialty equipment, but you may have the basics
in your arsenal. Proper honing and polishing can return your

Cleaning Technician (CCT) course teaches the fundamentals of carpet
cleaning. Topics include fiber types and characteristics, fiber
identification, carpet construction and styles, dyeing at the mill,
soil characteristics and the chemistry of cleaning. This course will
also introduce the technician to the 5 methods commonly used in
carpet cleaning. |

The Carpet Repair and Reinstallation
Technician (RRT) course teaches techniques and safety issues related
to carpet repair and re-installation, carpet construction,
inspection process prior to cleaning, tools of the trade, floor
preparation, adhesives, carpet cushion installation, tackles strip
and moldings, seaming, and proper stretching. This class also
teaches various repairs that the carpet cleaner/restorer may come up
against while dealing with an installed textile. This knowledge will
enable the technician to recognize and avoid installation problems
that may arise while performing carpet cleaning as well as how to
correct many issues encountered. |

IICRC Water Damage Restoration |
|
The
Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) course is designed to teach
restoration personnel that perform remediation work to give them a
better concept of water damage, it’s effects and techniques for
drying of structures. This course will give residential and
commercial maintenance personnel the background to understand the
procedures necessary to deal with water losses, sewer backflows, and
contamination such as mold.

Barker Hammer offers classes with IICRC certified instructors. Classes are
based on topics of interest like; restoration, carpet and upholstery
cleaning, deodorization, stone tile & wood.
IICRC classes include certification tests. Test fees are $50.00 unless
indicated as included.
Test fees are due at the time of testing and are separate from the class
fee.
IICRC requires 2 CEC credits annually
to maintain certification. Instructors are subject to change. Lunch is
served at each full day class. Pre-registration is a discounted price.
Class is held from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM depending on instructor, class
length may vary. Classes are held on the Barker-Hammer Assoc,
Inc. premises.

Pre-registrations/Advanced registrations must be paid in full 14
days before date of class.
Payment by credit card or check is required at time of registration to

Class begins at 8:00AM.
Please come 15 minutes early on first day of class. Class fees are not
billable. Pre-registration cost is due two weeks prior to class or at
sign-up to guarantee class seating.
All advertised classes are held on the Barker-Hammer premises.

Cancellation:
In the event of a cancelled registration, a 48 hour notice is required.
Students who cancel before 48 hours will be given the option to pay a $50
cancellation fee or transfer class credit to another class in the same
calendar year of equal or lesser value. Those who don't cancel within 48
hours prior to the course will owe the amount of the course in full.
