Recognition
Congratulations are in order for Bob Carlson and Brent Carlson. Both have
recently completed a continuing education course at the Kohler Engine
factory training center in Anoka, MN. This keeps Barker-Hammer’s
certification as an Authorized Factory Service Center for Kohler Engines
current. Nick Ebnet and Tom McDonald will be attending this training center
in late March. Brent Carlson has also completed the Prochem certified
factory training in late 06’. |
Cold Weather Operations
Even though it is still freezing outside, your truck mount (except CDS
models) still need to breathe. By that I mean that you cannot vent the
exhaust outside through the floor, run the hoses outside and then close all
the doors and windows and expect your machine not to revolt! It will
revolt in a myriad of ways. Some you may not see or notice for some time,
but eventually, you will see it. It could be in the form of
overheating, cavitation, rough running, blowing of head gaskets, oil leaks,
etc. If you happen to have an air- cooled engine, blown head gaskets and
possibly even warping of the cylinder are almost a sure bet! These units
run HOT! Not just in producing hot water, the surrounding area of the
engine and blower can get up to 400 degrees! Another reason to put the
pizza boxes, McDonald’s, Burger King, Wendy’s bags and other combustible
materials in a waste container and not throw them behind the seat! Your
unit must be properly ventilated in order to function properly.
These units are delicate, specialized machines. They require the utmost
attention and care. Please read through your owner’s manual and comply with
the manufactures recommended maintenance. You have made a very large
investment. If you take care of your investment, it will work its heart out
for you and give you many, many hundreds of hours of uninterrupted service. |
Health Warning
Our shop technicians are becoming ill from mold and other toxins in waste
tanks and the floor of the vehicle. Please clean your equipment and vehicles prior to your service
appointment. If you do not have time to clean your vehicle or equipment please reschedule
your appointment for another time. This also applies to portable extractors. Thank You. |
